Other Speciality Products
Some risks do not fit a standard policy — a one-off event, a jeweller's stock, a boiler, an exhibition, a contractual cover a client insists on. Assurmate places these speciality covers with insurers who write them, structures the wording around your actual exposure, and explains what the policy will and will not do before you sign. If you have a risk and are not sure what covers it, this is the place to start.
What it is
Speciality insurance covers exposures that the standard retail and commercial policies leave out, or that need a bespoke wording rather than a packaged product. In practice these placements fall into a few groups: event and production covers such as event cancellation, film production and exhibition cover; asset covers such as jewellers block, plate glass, signage and money insurance; engineering covers such as machinery breakdown, electronic equipment and boiler and pressure plant; and employee and statutory covers such as workmen's compensation and group term life.
The placement process is different from buying an off-the-shelf policy. The exposure is described in detail, insurers respond with terms and conditions that vary meaningfully between them, and the final wording is negotiated. That is where an advisor earns their place — the difference between two quotes is rarely just price.
Who needs it
Businesses with unusual, contractual or high-value exposures: event and wedding organisers, production houses, jewellers and high-value retailers, manufacturers with critical plant, IT and data-centre operators, exhibitors, and any company whose customer contract specifies a cover their existing policies do not provide.
It is also the right route when a hard question has no obvious answer — a new business line, an asset nobody has insured before, or a liability a client has just demanded. Rather than forcing the risk into a policy that was not written for it, we go to the market and ask.

Why buy it through Assurmate
Access to insurers who write the risk
Speciality lines are not offered by every insurer. We know which of our 75+ insurance partners will look at your risk, and which will not.
Wording negotiated, not accepted
On bespoke covers the exclusions matter more than the premium. We read them and argue the ones that would hurt you.
Contract-driven placements handled fast
When a client contract demands a specific cover and limit, we place it and issue the certificate in the format they asked for.
One advisor across all your policies
Speciality covers sit alongside your motor, property and employee benefit policies under a single relationship.
Honest answers on what is uninsurable
Some exposures cannot be insured sensibly. We will tell you that instead of selling a policy that will not respond.
Claims advocacy where it counts
Bespoke covers produce bespoke disputes. We manage the claim with the insurer from first notification to settlement.
Optional add-ons
- Third-party liability extensions. Adds public or product liability where the base speciality cover is asset-only.
- Terrorism and political risk extensions. Available on many property and event covers where the venue or location warrants it.
- Worldwide or multi-location extensions. Extends cover beyond a single declared site for exhibitions, equipment and touring assets.
- Increased limits for a named contract. Raises limits temporarily to satisfy a specific client contract without over-insuring all year.

Other Speciality Products questions
The things people ask us most about this cover.
Yes — that is the normal starting point. Describe what could go wrong and what you would lose. We work out which policy or combination answers it, and tell you if nothing sensibly does.
Straightforward covers such as money, plate glass or workmen's compensation can be issued in a day or two. Genuinely bespoke risks take longer because insurers underwrite them individually, so start early when a contract deadline is involved.
Usually yes. Send us the insurance clause from the contract and we will place cover that meets it and issue the certificate in the wording your client requires.
It depends entirely on the exposure. Many — plate glass, signage, money, workmen's compensation — are inexpensive. Large event or production covers are priced on the sum at risk. We quote before you commit to anything.
Yes. We usually align renewal dates with your property, motor and employee benefit policies so the whole programme is reviewed at once.
